About Us

Our town is named for Elias Anderson (1817–1907), who bought the American Ranch in 1856 and built the American Ranch Hotel. When the railroad came through in 1872, the depot was named "Anderson" in his honor.

The Anderson Historical Society is a nonprofit organization founded in 1977. Our museum at 2330 Ferry Street houses photographs, artifacts, and archives spanning Anderson's ranching, railroad, timber, and farming history.

More of our story is on the way.
